P90X Workouts – Lose That Fat
Why is losing weight wuch a difficult task? You would think that a heavy person could just eat a little bit less and presto change-o they would start shedding their excess fat.As a guy that’s strggled with his weight for the last 20 years I can tell you it’s anything but simple.
My body has become de-sensitized over the years from all of the abuse I’ve given it by not eating a healthy and balanced diet.I tried eating less and less, skipping breakfast and sometimes lunch. I know now what a mistake that was.
I tried eating 5-6 smaller meals each day, but that didn’t really work for me.I even gained weight playing racquetball 2-3 hours a day. For the most part, everything I tried ended up causing me to gain weight.
I was completely frustrated. I had reached the point of no longer believing I could overcome my weight problem. I had ballooned up to 310 pounds. My feet hurt, my ankles hurt, my knees popped anytime I walked.
I was miserable. I was always tired and extremely lethargic. My attitude was terrible as well.I was looking for a “magic pill” or “fad diet” that would give me instant results with little or no effort. I was in full blown denial.
I saw my first Tony Horton P90X infomercial about 7 months ago. Tony had this great attitude and it reminded me of how I used to feel about working out when I was in college and extremely fit.
I loved lifting weights and playing racquetball.I was in the gym 3-4 hours everyday. I had about 6% body fat and weighed in at 165 lbs.I had a rock hard stomach. I had a 6 pack that was to die for, my wife will tell you.
Physically, I let myself go and lost my positive outlook and good attitude also.the light bulb over my head switched on. I used to work out just because it was fun, not necessarily because I was concerned about being in shape.
Once I got heavy it became this life or death struggle and my attitude about the whole physical fitness thing just dried up along with any real hopes I had for getting back in shape.
After watching that infomercial I decided to get P90X and give it a try. I was in dreadful shape and I couldn’t keep up at all with what was going on. I was constantly battling for air and my joints hurt.
I completed my first workout and i think I waited another month before attempting a 2nd workout. I did better the 2nd time around, probably because I knew what to expect and I got myself psyched up about it.
Even though I did better with each successive attempt, I never stuck with the workouts long enought to see any difference.I was too lazy for my I own good. I never gave it a fair shot.On May 1st I mad a complete commitment to getting in shape with the P90X training program.
That was a little over 2 months ago.Currently, I weigh in at 268 pounds and even though I’m still 60 pounds overweight, I’m keeping up with P90X. My joints are feeling much better since I’ve strengthened the muscles that support them.I can actually run now without any pain.
I was so pathetic that I couldn’t even do the jumping jacks without killing my knees. I’m still not near my target weight of 210, but I’m getting closer to it and I know that I will get there.
Working out has become fun again and now that I’ve stuck with the program for a couple months, the results have become obvious. My dormant muscles are starting to show back up as I’m getting a lot stronger. I have a lot more energy and a lot less overall aches and body pains. My attitude has taken a complete turn for the better and it’s made a difference in every part of my life.
P90X is now my “magic pill” even though it’s not magic and it’s not a pill. It is pure and simple, hard work. There wasn’t anything easy about it though. There aren’t any quick fixes when it comes to fitness.Do the work first and the results will follow.
When I first started this program I gained 8 pounds and part of me was ready to quit. Another part of me dicided to jsut stick with it until I got to the next stage where the weight started coming off me.
If you’re borderline obese and struggling to find answers, take a look at 90X or at the very least Power 90.If P90X seems like it’s too tough for your level of fitness then you might want to take a look at Power 90, which isn’t nearly as intense. The Beachbody Store has a bunch of different exercise DVD’s to choose from.
Just make sure you talk to your physician about what you are doing before you start the workouts.
